Saying Goodbye - Surfboard Fishing 071011

I grabbed my gear and made my way to Doheny for some surfboard fishing.

It was so crowded and every mother's brother was out trying to catch a wave.  I put my pole in my mouth and paddled my way to the outside past a plethora of surfers.  A band was playing Jimmy Buffet on the shore, and as I cast into the depths, I reminesced over a Cheeseburger in Paradise.

I worked the trough between an outer reef about a quarter mile out, past the inner reef which was taking some big SSW swells, no fish today, however.  A couple of bites, a few glances to shore; I felt like a sitting duck out there!  There were so many DFG (Department of Fish and Game) on the beach I know they were waiting to bust me for something.  Too bad, I'm legal.

Surfboard fishing is a dying sport, and I know it.  Sooner or later they are going to make laws that will regulate it out of reality, it's only a matter of time.
